ICATT Forum Overview

Welcome to the ICATT forum. This forum was created for all interested persons to encourage an exchange of experiences and opinions on issues related to use of ICATT for adaptation and training. The main objective of this forum is to supporting implementation of WHO/UNICEF strategy for Integrated Management of Childhood Illness (IMCI).

Many dedicated professionals all over the world volunteered their time and expertise to develop and implement IMCI in more than 100 countries. We believe that ICATT is the tool that can help to address many issues related IMCI implementation and particularly in connection with the country adaptation of the guidelines and ensuring effective training of the various categories of health care providers.

If you are stuck and need help, the forum is the best place to browse and ask for help. Chances are your question has been asked before, so make sure to search the archives and visit our FAQ page you may already find there some useful information. Please also consult the Rules for posting to the ICATT forums pages if you'd like a smooth transition into our discussions.

Forum Groups

	Country adaptation of IMCI This group focuses on issues related to the country adaptation of the “generic” IMCI guidelines. It is created for those people who are interested and involved in global, regional and country adaptation of the guidelines to increase their effectiveness, sensitivity and specificity as well as local usability.
	Training approaches using ICATT E-learning is becoming more and more popular as a mean to train health care providers. Development of ICATT gave another great potential to even increase more IMCI training coverage using innovative approaches in the in-service and pre-service training. This forum is for those who want to share their own experience in using ICATT and other e-learning materials for training of medical professional or who want to learn more about various approaches for training and teaching.
	Working with ICATT Builder and Manager First main step to use ICATT at country level is working with ICATT Builder and Manager to insert country adapted IMCI guidelines and to prepared new training content which will be appropriate to each specific country situation. This forum is designed to help those who work with ICATT “open” interface when preparing a national IMCI chart booklet and the national ICATT-based training courses.
	ICATT and distance learning of health professionals One of the most challenging issues in training of health professionals is use of distance learning training approaches. Education and training of health care providers relies very much on skills development. This forum focuses on issues related to use of modern computer technology in effective training of health care professionals who are often unable to attend formal training courses.
	ICATT implementation in WHO Western Pacific Region To respond to the need and demand for more rapid scaling up of IMCI and greater utilization of new technology WHO WPR office conducted in Seoul, Republic of Korea (June 2008) a workshop to introduce ICATT in the region and discuss how this application can be used in the region. This forum was created to facilitate exchange of information and experiences with ICATT among the countries of the region.
