WHO and NSFD prepared new updated version of ICATT software and generic library. This new version is fully compatible with the previous one; however it includes a number of important improvements and allows decreasing an overall size of the Training Player, because from now all training video in the library are in Flash Video format (FLV). New version (including new library) is available on request from WHO CAH.
Another important news is that global team prepared a new set of training support materials: Planning and Adaptation Guide, Director’s Guide, Facilitator’s and Clinical practice Guides. All new documents are now available for download for registered users. Read More

Department of Child and adolescent health of the World Health Organization organized first global orientation and capacity building workshop for ICATT. This workshop was convened by the Novartis Foundation for Sustainable Development (NFSD) and the World Health Organization (WHO) to discuss the benefits and challenges of ICATT (IMCI Computerized Adaptation and Learning Tool) – an innovative e-learning tool for training in IMCI (Integrated Management of Childhood Illnesses). Experts shared their experiences in implementing ICATT and discussed with the audience its dissemination, potential upscaling and further development. Read More

From this generic Spanish ICATT version, a national adaptation for Peru was prepared in 2009 and because Peru already had experience in training health workers with the Spanish ICATT version, it was decided that the Peruvian ICATT adaptation would be used for a trial ICATT distance learning course which was conducted in October/November 2009 in the Tupac Amaru area of Lima, Peru. A total of 35 participants (17 doctors and 18 nurses) who had not been trained in IMCI from 17 health centres of whom 22 finished the course started the training in 3 groups. In February 2010 a follow-up visit of the course participants have been organized to assess the results and quality of training. Read More

WHO and NFSD jointly conducted a timing test of the application before the release of ICATT version 1/2008. The results of this test allowed to make some estimations on the time needed in the field to conduct ICATT-based IMCI courses. Read More
