29-May-2009

Global ICATT team continues providing support to IMCI ICATT adaptation in Indonesia. ICATT consultant Dr Ivan Lejnev visited Jakarta to strengthen local capacity in use of application and to discuss preparations for distance learning course, planned for this summer in two provinces.

Ministry of Health in Indonesia with support of local WHO office and global ICATT team continue its work on adaptation of ICATT for distance learning training in Indonesia. During his visit Dr Ivan Lejnev worked with Indonesian ICATT adaptation team to ensure effective use of software, helping to adapt and insert appropriate Indonesian materials into Training payer.
In addition a number of fruitful discussions took place in Ministry of Health to discuss the modalities of conducting distance learning training. It was decided that about 40 health workers will work individually with ICATT training payer, studying IMCI and practicing newly acquired skills in their own health facilities. They will be supported by tutors. There will be at least three formal meetings between trainees and their tutors to check the progress and ensure acquisition of good clinical skills. At the end of the distance learning training course all participants will do the final test.

It is currently planned that initial trading of tutors and the first meeting between tutors and trainees will take place during the third week of June 2009.
